The Foundation / 財団

Scope. This is the institutional companion to SagiWiki, the island wiki. SagiWiki documents Sagishima (the ground the institution stands on); this wiki documents the Foundation (the institution itself). They are kept as separate, cross-linked wikis on purpose, so that "what Sagishima is" and "what the Red Dot School is" never collapse into each other.

範囲。 これは島のウィキであるさぎウィキに対する、組織側の対をなすウィキである。さぎウィキは佐木島（この組織が立つ土地）を記録し、このウィキは財団（組織そのもの）を記録する。両者は意図的に、相互にリンクされた別々のウィキとして保たれている。これは「佐木島とは何か」と「レッドドットスクールとは何か」とが互いに溶け合ってしまわないようにするためである。

What this is / これは何か

The Red Dot School sits within an institution being designed as an integrated five-organ Foundation, referred to internally as [X] Foundation because it does not yet have a name. This wiki records that structure: the five organs, the legal entities that carry the work today, the four pedagogical shapes, and the aspirational design practice.

レッドドットスクールは、統合された五つの組織からなる財団として設計されつつある組織の中に位置している。まだ名称が定まっていないため、内部では[X] Foundation と呼ばれている。このウィキはその構造、すなわち五つの組織、現在その活動を担う法人、四つの教育上の形、そして目指すデザイン実践を記録するものである。

The five organs / 五つの組織

  1. The Stewardship Council : the long view, the rule, succession across generations. 評議会 : 長期的な視点、規範、世代を越えた継承。
  2. The School and its Public Programme : currently The Red Dot School. 学校と公開プログラム : 現在はレッドドットスクールにあたる。
  3. The Design Studio : currently in formation as Found Object. デザインスタジオ : 現在ファウンドオブジェクトとして形成途上にある。
  4. The Material Workshop : the akiya cycle, salvage, hikiya, the circular material economy. 物質の工房 : 空き家の循環、サルベージ、曳家、循環型の物質経済。
  5. The Resident Community : the people who live on Sagishima year-round in alignment with the Foundation. 定住コミュニティ : 財団と歩調を合わせ、佐木島に一年を通じて暮らす人々。

Entities carrying the work today / 現在の主体

  • The Red Dot School : a 一般社団法人 registered in Mihara City; runs the studios and the public programme. レッドドットスクール : 三原市に登記された一般社団法人。スタジオと公開プログラムを運営する。
  • RDS USA NPO : the US fundraising arm (formal legal name to be confirmed). RDS USA NPO : 米国における資金調達部門（正式な法人名は要確認）。
  • Found Object : the aspirational design practice (foundobject.zip), a prototype being built into a real firm. ファウンドオブジェクト : 目指すデザイン実践（foundobject.zip）。実在する事業として構築されつつある試作。

The unified Foundation is the structure being designed to integrate these.

統合された財団とは、これらを一つにまとめるために設計されている構造である。

  • The Studio Archive / スタジオ・アーカイブ : every studio cohort, what each did, and what they left for the next one. すべてのスタジオのコホート、各々が何をしたか、そして次のコホートに何を残したか。
  • SagiWiki / さぎウィキ : the island this institution stands on. (Link assumes SagiWiki deploys at the site root; adjust if the layout differs. The companion-wiki banner at the top of every page also points here.) この組織が立つ島。（このリンクは、さぎウィキがサイトのルートに配置されることを前提としている。構成が異なる場合は調整すること。各ページ上部にある対をなすウィキへのバナーも、ここを指している。）

Open questions / 未解決の問い

  • What to call this wiki. Undecided whether the institutional wiki should be titled "The Red Dot School" (the entity people know today, running now) or "The Foundation / 財団" (the umbrella being designed, of which the School is one organ). Currently titled "The Foundation" as the broader frame, but this is provisional. The umbrella itself is still unnamed (referred to internally as [X] Foundation), which is part of why this is open. Changing it later is a one-line site_name edit plus the sibling-link label in mkdocs.yml. このウィキの名称をどうするか。 組織側のウィキを「レッドドットスクール」（人々が今日知っており、現に運営されている主体）と題すべきか、それとも「財団 / The Foundation」（設計途上にある総体であり、学校はその一組織にあたる）と題すべきか、まだ決まっていない。現在はより広い枠組みとして「財団」と題しているが、これは暫定的なものである。総体そのものがいまだ無名である（内部では [X] Foundation と呼ばれている）ことも、これが未解決である一因となっている。後から変更する場合は、mkdocs.yml の一行の site_name の編集と、兄弟リンクのラベルの修正で済む。
