The Studio Archive / スタジオ・アーカイブ¶
Purpose. This is the institution's memory of its studios. Each studio is a two-week residential cohort that arrives, works in four groups, and leaves something behind. This archive exists so that the next cohort can walk in, read what the last one did, and build on it instead of starting from zero. Leaving a good record is part of the work, not an afterthought.

How this archive is organized / このアーカイブの構成¶
Two kinds of page work together:

- Studios are episodes. Each studio folder records one cohort, bounded in time: who came, what each of the four groups pursued, what they made, and what they left for the next cohort. スタジオはエピソードである。 各スタジオのフォルダは、一つのコホートを、時間で区切って記録する。誰が来たか、四つのグループがそれぞれ何に取り組んだか、何を作ったか、そして次のコホートに何を残したか。
- Practice, Research, and Relationships are threads. These run across studios. A studio page links out to the threads it advanced; a thread page links back to the studios that touched it. To read one cohort end to end, read its studio folder. To follow one topic across years, follow the thread.

The four groups / 四つのグループ¶
Every studio organizes into the same four pedagogical groups. Each maps to one organ of the Foundation (see The Five Organs). This is the School's framework for a cohort, not how the organs themselves operate.

A curated timeline of every studio, drawn from the internal Output and Impact audit (Audit_RDS/05_Output_and_Impact/README.md, not part of this published wiki). Counts are approximate and qualified in each studio's own page; see the audit for counting methodology. Linked rows have a full record; unlinked rows are cataloged but not yet written up.

From workshops to salvage / ワークショップからサルベージへ¶
The studios did not begin with salvage. By founder Nao Kono's account, the through line runs back to the participatory design-build firm he and Momoko ran from 2010, his decision around 2014 to build a school for architecture education, and his 2018 meeting with Bryan, who came to architecture from a life in education while Nao came to education from architecture. Their first joint experiment was a four-day "Ichikawa Design School" workshop for high-schoolers, the direct precursor to Red Dot School. Around the same time, an invitation from Prof. Takeyama to teach an Asian architecture students' workshop reconnected Nao, a Mihara native, to Sagishima after more than twenty years.

In 2019 the three of them (Bryan, Momoko, Nao) ran the Sagishima workshop together and resolved to continue; Bryan named the school and made it the subject of his Harvard GSD thesis, "Sagishima 2072," a fifty-year plan for an architecture school on the island. COVID then forced three years of online workshops (the lineage of Talk To Me Nice and Trees Are Round, Wood Are Square). When Japan reopened, the first residential studio ran in May 2023, alongside the founding of the 一般社団法人 and Isso Kawamoto securing Kakumeisha as the schoolhouse.

That May 2023 studio, Giving A Fish, Releasing A Bird 01, is where the deconstruction and salvage pedagogy begins: careful deconstruction reframed as ceremony rather than demolition. The lineage deepens from there into hand-deconstructing a whole house and moving its frame by hikiya (the 2024 Old Home studios), rebuilding from salvage into 1:1 walls (Wall Party, 2025), and finally turning salvage into a service and system (Salvage-as-a-Service, 2026). One thread runs through all of them unbroken: the Mui (無為, "doing nothing") exercise, a three-hour mid-studio pause held since that first 2023 studio.

How to leave a record for the next studio / 次のスタジオへの記録の残し方¶
When your studio ends, create a folder Studios/<YYYY-MM>_<Project_Name>/ and follow the same shape every studio uses:
