The Red Dot School / レッドドットスクール

The Red Dot School is the School and Public Programme organ of the Foundation: the entity that runs the studios today. It is a 一般社団法人 registered in Mihara City, operating from the former clinic building (now Kakumeisha) on Sagishima in collaboration with islanders since 2017.

レッドドットスクールは、財団の学校と公開プログラムの組織であり、現在スタジオを運営している主体である。三原市に登記された一般社団法人で、2017 年以降、佐木島のかつての診療所だった建物（現在の格明舎）を拠点に、島の人々と協働して活動している。

The programme / プログラム

  • The 2026 studio programme is labelled Salvage-as-a-Service. 2026 年のスタジオ・プログラムはSalvage-as-a-Serviceと銘打たれている。
  • Student cohorts are sorted into the four shapes (🟥 Square, 🔴 Circle, 🔺 Triangle, ❌ X), which route their work toward the corresponding organ. See The Five Organs. 学生のコホートは四つの形（🟥 四角、🔴 丸、🔺 三角、❌ バツ）に分類され、それぞれの活動が対応する組織へと振り向けられる。五つの組織を参照。
  • Per-shape studio output publishes at the matching URL on thered.school (/square, /circle, /triangle, /x). 形ごとのスタジオの成果は、thered.school 上の対応する URL（/square、/circle、/triangle、/x）で公開される。
  • RDS also runs a standing research program: the Sagishima Data Project, which documents the island as data (history, water, ritual, a digital twin). RDS はまた、常設の研究プログラムも運営している。佐木島データ・プロジェクトであり、島をデータとして記録する（歴史、水、儀礼、デジタルツイン）。

  • Bryan Ortega-Welch : Harvard GSD. Bryan Ortega-Welch（ブライアン・オルテガ＝ウェルチ） : ハーバード大学デザイン大学院（GSD）。
  • Kono Nao (河野直) and Kono Momoko (河野桃子) : Tsumiki Design & Construction. 河野直と河野桃子 : つみき設計施工社。
  • Kawamoto Yoshishige (河本義成, "Isso") : local farmer, haiku poet, and island resident; the School's most important resource for island knowledge (the Isso-San Anthropology initiative). 河本義成（イッソ） : 地元の農家、俳人、島の住民。島の知に関する学校の最も重要な情報源であり、これをめぐる取り組みが「イッソさん人類学（Isso-San Anthropology）」である。

Relationship to the other organs / 他組織との関係

The School is one organ, not the whole Foundation. Its design work flows toward the Design Studio (Found Object); its salvage work toward the Material Workshop; its anthropological and civic work toward the Resident Community; its speculative work toward the Stewardship Council.

学校は一つの組織であって、財団の全体ではない。そのデザインの仕事はデザインスタジオ（ファウンドオブジェクト）へ、サルベージの仕事は物質の工房へ、人類学的・市民的な仕事は定住コミュニティへ、そして思索的・将来構想的な仕事は評議会へと流れていく。
