Overview / 概要

Roughly a third or more of Sagishima's houses stand vacant (Theory of Change material list says ~30%+; the Old Home page says "nearly half"). Each is a specific building with a specific story. The Workshop's work, conceived at full scale, is the patient one-by-one engagement with these houses: documenting them, where appropriate disassembling them, salvaging their materials, and in some cases restoring them for new use.

佐木島の家屋のおよそ三分の一以上が空き家となっている（Theory of Change の資材リストは約30%以上とし、Old Home のページは「ほぼ半分」とする）。その一軒一軒が、固有の物語を持つ固有の建物である。ワークショップの仕事は、本来の規模で構想すれば、これらの家々への根気強い一軒ずつの関わりにほかならない。記録し、必要に応じて解体し、その資材を回収し、場合によっては新たな用途のために修復するのである。

What we know / わかっていること

  • The akiya are the most visible consequence of the postwar contraction: aging in place plus children and grandchildren migrating to the cities. 空き家は戦後の縮小の最も目に見える帰結である。住み続ける住民の高齢化に加え、子や孫の世代が都市へ移っていったことによる。
  • Engagement is not abstract: one house at a time, named, with the family's permission, in dialogue with the City of Mihara and the islanders. 関わりは抽象的なものではない。一度に一軒ずつ、名前を持ち、その家族の許諾を得て、三原市や島民との対話のなかで行われる。

Open questions / 未解決の問い

  • The akiya rate is unreconciled (~30%+ vs "nearly half"), and almost none of the household stories are yet recorded. See open questions (items 5 and the akiya discrepancy). 空き家の割合は整合がとれておらず（約30%以上と「ほぼ半分」）、各世帯の物語もほとんどまだ記録されていない。未解決の問い（項目5および空き家の数値の食い違い）を参照。
