Overview / 概要¶

Kawamoto Yoshishige (河本義成), known as Isso, lives in Sunoue and is a Foundation board member. The Red Dot School About page describes him as a local farmer, haiku poet, and island resident. He is described by the Foundation as its single most important resource for knowledge of the island, and is its deepest living memory of Sagishima.

イッソとして知られる河本義成は、須ノ上に暮らす財団の理事である。レッドドットスクールのAboutページは、彼を地元の農家であり、俳人であり、島の住人として紹介している。財団は彼を、島についての知識における最も重要な唯一の資源と称しており、彼は佐木島の最も深い生きた記憶である。

What we know / わかっていること¶

He gave the Foundation its schoolhouse. Isso proposed donating the 1949 former clinic to the school; that donation is the structural reason the Foundation has a Kakumeisha at all. 彼は財団に校舎を与えた。 イッソは1949年築の旧診療所を学校へ寄贈することを提案した。その寄贈こそが、財団が格明舎を持つに至った構造的な理由である。

As a self-published, living, first-person record of his farming and island life, it is a primary source of first resort for the Isso-San Anthropology work, and the most current window onto his daily knowledge. The Isso-San Anthropology initiative (⚡️ Critical) / イッソさん人類学¶

Studio X Other Thoughts (May 2026) flags placing a fellow trained in anthropology / journalism / oral history to work closely with Isso and record his vast knowledge before it is lost. Time horizon: Isso is in his 50s–60s, so the urgency is bounded but real. The initiative lives in the 🟥 Square pedagogical bucket and is a natural sister to the Sagishima Data Project's Infinite Matsuri. It is the most concrete near-term Sagishima documentation project on the Foundation's plate.

Studio X Other Thoughts（2026年5月）は、人類学・ジャーナリズム・オーラルヒストリーの訓練を受けたフェローを配置し、イッソと密に協働して、失われる前に彼の膨大な知識を記録することを掲げている。時間軸について、イッソは50代から60代であり、緊急性には限りがあるが現実のものである。この取り組みは🟥スクエアの教育的枠組みに属し、佐木島データ・プロジェクトの無限の祭りと自然に対をなす。これは財団が抱える、最も具体的で近い将来の佐木島記録プロジェクトである。

Name kanji to confirm. The Mihara partnership post (n399a9c4dfb36) writes his name 河本吉重; the Kakumeisha post and the About page use 河本義成. Both read Yoshishige. See open questions. 名前の漢字は要確認。 三原市の連携協定の投稿（n399a9c4dfb36）は彼の名前を河本吉重と記している。一方、格明舎の投稿とAboutページは河本義成を用いている。いずれもヨシシゲと読む。未解決の問いを参照。
