Sunoue Gymnasium / 須ノ上体育館

Overview / 概要

The Foundation's salvage warehouse and workshop, formerly the gymnasium of the Sunoue elementary school that closed when the population could no longer support it. The building is large and structurally sound, and is currently the storage and processing space for everything the Workshop has recovered from disassembled island houses.

財団の資材回収のための倉庫兼作業場で、もとは人口がもはや支えきれなくなって閉校した須ノ上小学校の体育館であった。建物は大きく構造的にも健全で、現在はワークショップが島の解体した家々から回収したすべての資材を保管・加工する場となっている。

What we know / わかっていること

  • It serves as warehouse, workshop, and gallery for the Workshop's salvage program. ワークショップの資材回収プログラムのための倉庫、作業場、そしてギャラリーとして機能している。
  • The adjacent elementary school and gymnasium are for sale from the City of Mihara, cheap. A tech company nearly acquired the property to convert it into a remote-work farm before the Foundation noticed. This is a live property question. 隣接する小学校と体育館は、三原市によって安価で売りに出されている。 財団が気づく前に、あるテック企業がこの物件をリモートワーク用の拠点に転用しようとして取得寸前まで進んでいた。これは現在進行中の不動産の課題である。

History / 沿革

In 1983 (Shōwa 58), a new indoor sports hall (屋内運動場, okunai undōjō) was built, and at the same time the Central Community Hall (中央公民館, chūō kōminkan) ceased to exist (was removed). (双鷺洲 p.199)

1983年（昭和58年）、新たに屋内運動場が建てられ、それと同時に中央公民館が廃止（撤去）された。(双鷺洲 p.199)

Note for review: The source records that a new 屋内運動場 (indoor sports hall / gymnasium) was built in 1983 and that the 中央公民館 (Central Community Hall) was removed in the same year. It is not yet confirmed from primary sources whether this 1983 屋内運動場 is the same structure as the present Sunoue Gymnasium (須ノ上体育館) described on this page, or whether the removed Central Community Hall stood on the same site. The relationship between these buildings is HELD for reconciliation pending a clearer primary source. Needs native/historian review.
